The Heart Truth Story
We want to hear your story about how you made a change in your life that improved your health and how you maintain the change. We are not doing the contest this year, however we still encourage you to tell your story.

Two years ago on Go Red Day I made the decision to officially quit smoking. I had been smoking for over 10 years and was sick of smelling bad, sick of not being able to walk up a hill without getting out of breath, and sick of doing something that I knew was so stupid. I had tried many times to quit before, however the whole “spirit” of Go Red Day really gave me the support and encouragement I needed. I am still so happy and proud of the decision I made 2 years ago and to anyone wanting to quit using tobacco- I recommend using this holiday to make the change you want!
After surviving through Congestive Heart Failure while 9 months pregnant at age 29, I will live with heart disease for the rest of my life. I believe that emotional stress, a bad diet and smoking contributed to my Peripertum Cardiomyopathy. While I continue to struggle with smoking every day, I hope to go the way of 2YearSmokeFree on February 6. I did manage to make major changes in my diet and thought process in terms of how I think of food and nutrition. I came to realize and truly understand how important is the food that we put into our bodies. I can look back over the last 4 1/2 years and see unbelievable progress in what I have come to know about food and nutrition. I know that I am taking good care of my heart in terms of what I eat, and am anxious to share what I have learned and my passion with others.
